A Growing Market
The offshore wind energy sector continues to experience significant growth, driven by factors including increasing demand for renewable energy,
advances in technology and falling costs. According to the
Global Wind Energy Council
offshore wind capacity grew by a record 6.1 GW in 2020, bringing the total installed capacity to over 35 GW. Europe remains the largest market for offshore wind,
accounting for 80% of global installed capacity, but other regions such as Asia and the United States are rapidly increasing their investments in this sector.
As the market grows, so too does the number of opportunities, with some estimates suggesting that the renewable energy sector could support over
43 million jobs
globally by 2050. In addition to reducing carbon emissions, offshore wind can provide a reliable source of energy and contribute to energy security.
The development of floating wind turbines, which can be deployed in deeper waters, is also opening up new opportunities for offshore wind energy in areas with previously
limited potential.
Imagine what you could do for your organisation with access to complete up-to-date offshore wind farm data, including detailed information about foundations,
project milestones, vessels and contracts awarded.
