The New Jersey Energy Link was planned to be the first of three phases of the Atlantic Wind Connection, to be implemented over ten years. When proposed in 2010, the New Jersey Energy Link was to be installed by 2016, and as of 2013 this phase was expected to be installed by 2020 (with construction 2016-2019). Subsequent phases would include the Delmarva Link and the Bay Link. In 2014, BOEM suspended AWC’s Right of Way (ROW) Grant request because it had scaled back its proposal for the New Jersey Energy Link, so that it no longer interconnected BOEM WEAs and the did not fall under the bureau’s jurisdiction.
