Svenska Kraftnät (SVK) has planned to build six connection points of 1.4 to 2 GW each off the Swedish coast, with the first foreseen to be operational between 2029 and 2032 and the last in 2035. There are three areas where developers have letters of intent to connect, including: the Southern coast of Scania, Halland and Southeast Baltic sea. While, there is currently lack of developers' interest in the remaining three areas including, Gothenburg, Southern Bothnian Sea and Bay of Bothnia. The grid expansion in the former three areas will be prioritised over grid expansion in the latter ones. SVK can develop connection systems in either DC or AC configurations, with a nominal voltage level of 220 kV is expected to be deployed.
