11 Jul 2024: Update (29 August 2024): SSE will be extending the ongoing survey works to undertake further geophysical survey work in an additional area of seabed to the west of the site. This will take place between 26 August and 30 September 2024. SSE will be returning to Berwick Bank Wind Farm area to undertake further geophysical survey work. The survey will focus upon the north western quarter of the site with possible survey in the southern half of the site pending weather and survey progress. The survey work is being undertaken by Gardline and will be conducted by the Ocean Researcher vessel. Pending weather conditions vessels are due to be on site from 11th July 2024. Survey Duration The survey is anticipated to take approximately 2 months. To account for all eventualities including weather delays, surveys may be performed until 30 September 2024 The survey will involve deployment of: • Multi Beam Echosounder – to 3D map seafloor and calculate water depths; • Ultra-High Resolution Seismic (UHRS) – to provide data on conditions beneath the seabed; • Side Scan Sonar – to detect seabed objects; • Sub-bottom profiler – to provide data on conditions beneath the seabed; • Magnetometer – to detect any ferrous metal objects (wrecks / unexploded ordnance); • Ultra Short Baseline – to assist in positioning of the subsea equipment being towed / submerged.
