09 Sep 2024: An export cable has failed at the wind farm and OFTO has scheduled repair works, commencing on 16th September, expected to continue for 4 weeks. The vessel, Nexans Skagerrak will be utilised for the export cable repair. The vessel works are to take place mid way along the cable length close to a repair joint bight that was installed as part of the planned construction works. The scope of repair works include: deburial of existing cable bight using a capjet subsea tool; cutting the cable and removing both ends to the surface; testing, identifying and removing faulted cable section onto the vessel; installation of a short section of new cable (50-300m) and 2 subsea repair joints; laying the repaired cable back down on the sea bed within the consented corridor; re Burial of the deployed cable using the Capjet subsea tool; and finally survey works of new installation.
