26 Jul 2024: Update (22 August 2024): The Planning Inspectorate has accepted North Falls Offshore Wind Farm’s Development Consent Order for examination. Design Envelope: • 34 to 57 turbines • 236 to 337 m rotor diameter • 276.4-377.4 m tip height • up to 2 40x60 m substations HVAC if radial, HVAC and HVDC equipment if offshore coordination • Up to 170 km of 66 to 132 kV array cabling • Up to 20 km of 275 kV interconnector cabling • Up to two 275 kV 62.7 km offshore export cables Update July 2024: North Falls have submitted for consent, the Planning Inspectorate has until 23 August 2024 to accept the application, at which point documents for the project will be released. Update February 2024: The developer has confirmed to 4C that they intend to apply for consent in July 2024 Update September 2023: Due to recent alteration to the project scope, such as the removal of the Northern array of the planned project area, North Falls need to carry out additional surveys, planning and consultations. Due to this, they believe that they will not look to submit an application for consent until 2024. Update June 2023: Development consent order application scheduled for submission to the Planning Inspectorate Q3/Q4 2023. Update November 2022: Development consent order application scheduled for submission in late 2023. Development Consent Order (DCO) and supporting Environmental Information submitted to the Planning Inspectorate Summer 2023.
