09 Sep 2024: RWE has started the construction of an ultra-fast innovative battery storage system at their Moerdijk power plant in the Netherlands. It will have an installed capacity of 7.5 MW and a storage capacity of 11 MWh and is part of the system integration solutions for OranjeWind. It will protect the electricity grid from excessive frequency deviations by supplying or withdrawing electricity extremely quickly. After commissioning in the end of 2024, the plant will undergo a two-year pilot phase.
