09 Nov 2021: The latest draft North Sea 2022 – 2027 Programme (PNZ), made available in November, designates 10.7 GW of offshore wind areas in order to meet increased 2030 offshore wind targets. Unused wind energy areas designated in the 2016 PNZ have been reconfirmed for development before 2030 and eight new search areas identified in the draft PNZ in March have been redefined. According to the PNZ, Development in search areas 1, 2, and 5 (oost) is considered feasible before 2030 and are now designated as WEAs. The search areas that are not used will be reconsidered as wind energy areas for the period after 2030. The draft is available for inspection from Tuesday 9 November 2021 to Monday 20 December. The North Sea 2022-2027 Programme will be partially revised after its final adoption in March 2022 to designate 17 GW wind energy areas for development post-2030.
